General Jones first appeared on the San Francisco music scene in February of 2007. Since their debut they have played over 30 dates and continue to add more and more. Drummer Gary Jones has been playing with Shark since 2005 - back when this music was played under the group name "Eighteen Wheeler" in the bosom of the magnificent Rocky Mountains in Boulder, CO. His impeccable meter and humble style are the heartbeat of this group. Zach "Z-Money" Sharpe has been playing the Bass guitar since the beginning of time; he carries the infectious air of funk/blues/soul style bass that will have you unable to resist the dance floor. Scott Portner lays down the meanest blues harpoon North, South, East and West of Richmond. He is a hot ticket in The Bay, appearing with many different acts; he doesn't play in every General Jones show, but you'll hate to miss him when he does. The most recent addition to this group is guitarist Mark Abdilla. He is a traditional Celtic guitarist by trade, touring the world every summer with his tremendous talent. He brings a whole new dimension to this group with a tasteful ear and dexterous hand. General Jones is lead by singer/guitarist Matthew "Shark" Shartsis. Mr. Shartsis (known most commonly as Shark) wrote --and continues to write -- the music of this Bay Area group. The idea of General Jones (a name spawn from Gary Jones' canine companion, General) is based on the theory that there is no limit to peoples tastes; everyone feels a General Jones. As the band matures, you will find that their style is not limited to blues or rock or bluegrass - it is a GENERAL JONES...
